Position Summary:

The sales manager acts as the face, voice and representative of the hotel.  The sales manager is responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in their assigned market. They are required to listen to customer needs, analyze this information and create tailored proposals, in order to close sales while meeting/exceeding sales targets. 


Duties Will Include:

  • Conducting outside sales calls to qualified corporate accounts with a focus on establishing LNR accounts, Group Bookings and Meeting Room rentals.

  • Prospecting new business opportunities using internet, business newspapers, local chamber of commerce and client referrals.

  • Move throughout property to conduct site inspections to verify hotel is ready for client tours.

  • Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current and potential clients.

  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.

  • Build professional relationships with all clients and act as the hotel's point of contact for any planning needs, and problem handler should any issues arise.

  • Maintain Account profiles for all current, target and prospect accounts, which will include a range of information from names, titles, contact information, historical knowledge of hotel and meeting space needs, and any future developments that may be uncovered during prospecting.

  • Keep all clients informed on hotel promotions, special packages and actively promote and sell the hotel's packages.

  • Coordinate various departments' participation in servicing accounts.

  • Provide Management with a weekly sales report that will include all outside calls for the week, definite business booked, tentative business in the works, and any new prospective business that was identified through prospecting endeavors.

  • Conduct a reader board inspection of competing hotels each week to identify what businesses are utilizing our competition's hotels for business, note company vehicles that are parked in competing hotel parking lots, and build company profile to target that business for our hotel.

  • Conduct a minimum of 3 hotel tours per week to prospective clients to showcase our hotels needs and entertain a minimum of 3 clients per week for breakfast or lunch). Create a personal connection to each prospective client in order to build trust and opportunity to host their travel needs.  Position our hotel to be every clients' Number 2 hotel with the goal of winning their trust and loyalty to be their number 1 hotel in the future.

  • Manage the entire process with operations to ensure group blocks, reservations, meeting space needs (including room set ups) is being completed and communicated back to our client in a timely manner. Sales Manager MUST have an active knowledge of the hotel's operation and remain a team player with the team to ensure all details are conveyed clearly and concisely to the hotel operations team.

    • Produce weekly group resumes that will include dates, times, company contact information, billing instruction, room night patterns, VIP Guests, Special instruction for operations to deliver, etc. on a weekly basis. This tool will be used as the informational bible for the hotel operations team to manage groups and meetings with confidence.

  • Sales Manager is to meet all groups at check in and welcome them to the hotel (regardless of the day of the week or time of the groups check in).

  • Sales Manager must always convey the confidence of the company's vision and must at all times be the cheerleader for the operations team as they will all be looking to this position for confidence that the hotel will have business in the future.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of hotel sales experience.

  • Knowledge of hotel structure and how all departments interact.

  • Being knowledgeable in the use of hotel PMS systems, and computer systems such as Microsoft Windows, as well as software such as MS Word, MS Excel, Internet Explorer, and the use of Google Chrome.

  • Effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with guests, associates, supervisors, and others as required for completion of your tasks.

  • Ability to do sales in-person, on the phone, email and direct mail.

  • Requires problem solving and initiation of less clearly defined job activities. 

  • Makes relatively complex decisions regarding resolution of customer complaints.  Decisions are made within broad procedural guidelines


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management or Business
